On Indian Women

The other day an actress turned politician opined that Indian women always remain inside the four walls of the kitchen and go on producing children. Well, there may be at least an element of truth in that, but comparing Indian women with those of the west is rather illogical. Indian women are a breed by themselves.
Judging an Indian women’s worth is not at all that easy. They are born with many clips clipped on to their wings. That they are born as women into underprivileged socioeconomic conditions into patriarch, hypocritic closed societies is the first challenge that they face. She just silently suffers the limits put on to her creativity and freedom. It’s not a matter of her choice at any stage of her life. Low standards of living coupled with poor nutrition and sanitation render her and her children’s life unhealthy. Great are the indignities showered on her all the while. She just strives along with the minimum of resources at her disposal.
But all this has carved out an inner beauty in most of our women. That even among these odds her glory continues that the strength to fight and suffer and endure still remains.
What can an actress who lives in the lap of comfort know anything about the hardcore and often harsh truths and realities prevalent in the society?
Life is not all about designer clothes and makeup, not parties and romps but something more.
Other than all these there is a great gift from God –the mind and a beautiful mind shaped by struggles, hardships and triumphs reflects itself-and that is inner beauty which no perm or roosh can match.
Women should be given a chance to think, feel and decide for themselves.
As Swami Vivekananda said,” who are you to decide for them? Let them solve their problems by themselves. Indian women may appear to be weak, docile and incompetent but it takes some real beauty to recognize beauty. Only a true gem knows the value of another one .It is easy to label someone or something but not at all that easy to try to feel understand and recognize true value and worth.
